Big Bear Recreation and Park District staff answered resident’s request for additional pickleball courts in Big Bear. Staff recently completed resurfacing the Meadow Park Courts and painted four new Pickleball courts for the growing community of players. In May 2021 staff began Phase 1 of the project where they spent 10 days repairing, resurfacing, and repainting the 2 Westerly Tennis courts including new nets to bring the courts back to life.
Phase 2 began in late August 2021. Staff repaired and rejuvenated the surface and included a 4ft fence to separate the Westerly Tennis courts and the New dedicated Pickleball courts. Four Pickleball only courts were painted on the fresh green playing surface with permanent nets installed. The Pickleball community was thoroughly pleased and Recreation staff are now planning for league programming to fully utilize the dedicated courts.
