The Department of Public Works – Special Districts is pleased to announce the completion of the Prado Regional Park – Bladder Tank Replacement Project!

These bladder tanks are a key part of Prado’s potable water distribution pumping system. The system is a pump on demand style system for all of the parks potable and fire suppression needs. The Bladder tanks primary role is to reduce power costs during low system demands by reducing pump run hours along with keeping the distribution system pressurized when the pumps are off.

The internal bladders failed on the original tanks and while normally a replaceable part, were no longer available from the manufacture therefore it was necessary to replace the entire units. The factory standard basic color is red and customers can pay for other colors however in an effort to remain within budget it was decided by the project team that the cost outweighed the aesthetics especially given their relatively concealed location.
