The Department of Public Works – Special Districts (Department) is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Calico Ghost Town – Bridge Replacement Project. During routine inspections, Department staff identified visible deterioration of the pedestrian bridge at Calico Ghost Town Regional Park (Calico). Following this discovery, a comprehensive evaluation conducted by a structural engineering company recommended the complete replacement of the bridge.
In response, the Department undertook the task of removing the existing bridge and replacing it with a new weather-resistant steel structure. The pedestrian bridge serves as a vital asset, enabling individuals to access the historical site facilities located within the park.
We take great pride in this achievement, as the new pedestrian bridge not only ensures the safety of visitors, staff, and residents but also allows them to immerse themselves in appreciating the authentic 1880s theme, strengthening our community and inspiring future generations.
