Big Bear Valley Recreation and Park District has added a new New Holland U80D Enclosed Cab Skip Loader to its fleet, strengthening the District’s ability to maintain parks, trails, and recreation facilities across the Valley.

The U80D is a versatile, all-weather workhorse equipped to support a wide range of operational needs. Its enclosed cab improves operator safety and comfort, especially during winter months, and allows crews to work efficiently in snow, cold temperatures, and high-wind conditions that are common to Big Bear. The new equipment will be used to:

  • Improve year-round park and facility maintenance, including grading, moving materials, and preparing sites for capital improvement and rehabilitation projects.
  • Increase response capability during winter, providing dependable support for snow removal, clearing access routes, and managing storm-related debris in and around District facilities.
  • Enhance playground and field upkeep, allowing crews to spread material, repair surfaces, and perform seasonal renovations more efficiently.
  • Support community event preparation, such as staging, landscape refreshes, and restoration after large gatherings and festivals.
  • Reduce equipment downtime by providing a reliable, modern unit that replaces aging machinery with limited capabilities.

This investment ensures that District staff can continue delivering safe, clean, and well-maintained recreation spaces for residents and visitors throughout the year. The upgraded equipment also improves operational efficiency and supports the District’s commitment to responsible stewardship of public resources. The District looks forward to putting the new skip loader into service as it prepares for upcoming winter operations and a busy 2026 season.
