On August 17th, 2022, the concrete walkway was poured around the new Bathroom/Snack bar addition completing the final step to construction of the most recent improvement to the Big Bear Alpine Zoo. The project consisted of two phases, phase one included the relocation of utilities and prepping the pad for the prefabricated, three-piece structure. To ensure proper compaction and utility placement, Department of Public Works, Special Districts and Big Bear Recreation and Park District staff spent time planning and inspecting the site to ensure all processes were completed and to proper specifications. Phase two consisted of crane setting the structure in place while aligning all utility stub outs. The new structure includes two standard restrooms, two ADA accessible restrooms as well as a snack bar with serving window to serve the patrons visiting the amazing Big Bear Alpine Zoo.
