Ayala Park has added several improvements designed to make the park more accessible, safer and more comfortable for children and families. The upgrades support more inclusive play and provide additional shaded areas for park users throughout the year.

The playground now includes a new inclusive swing set designed for children of all abilities, along with new rubber safety surfacing. A new shade sail has also been added at the playground, helping create a more comfortable environment for children and families while they use the play area. Together, these improvements support accessibility, enhance safety and provide additional protection from the sun.

Eight new picnic shade structures have also been installed over picnic tables and BBQ areas. The structures feature durable metal framing with wood accents and provide additional shade for people using these gathering spaces. By increasing covered areas, the improvements can make picnicking and use of the BBQ areas more comfortable across different seasons and support greater year-round use of the park.

Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. provided the funding that made both improvement projects possible.

Together, the new playground and picnic-area amenities make Ayala Park more accessible, safer and more comfortable for community members who use the park.
