When the schools let out for the Summer, parents and their children look to the Big Bear Park and Recreation District for their summer entertainment needs. By enrolling in the fun and safe activities the district provides to the community, kids stay busy with multiple options to choose from. This June, over 300 children and teens enrolled in a vast array of programs that included Hiking Camp, Sports of All Sorts, Science fun camp, X-Treme camp, where activities included Capture the flag, Sharks and Minos, Geo Caching, Ball sport, and many more. In addition, there is the ever popular Beyond the Bell Summer Camps for our Elementary aged kids who participate in bowling days, pool days, water slide days, trampoline park days, and a field trip to Lake Gregory. Finally, as the temperatures rise, many adults and kids sign up for pool programing, this includes swim lessons, Junior Lifeguard training, water aerobics, and advanced water aerobics, a more challenging boot camp version of water aerobics. District staff look forward to Summer as they pack it full of activities available to the community.
