During a major storm event at the end of February, 2023, one of the 29 power poles providing electricity to the top of Pinto Mountain near 29 Palms was completely broken off 3 feet above the ground. Subsequently, the TV Transmission equipment at that facility had to be powered by a back-up generator until a new pole could be flown in by helicopter and installed onsite near the top of the mountain. The helicopter was critical as the road to the location is very challenging to navigate and requires too many switch-backs for large equipment or trailers to access. We are happy to report that the replacement pole was flown up to the site near the top of the mountain and installed on Tuesday, April 4th, 2023. Electric power to the TV Transmission equipment was also restored at that time.
