All of our parks are now open for use this includes playground equipment, tennis/pickle ball courts, picnic/BBQ areas, shade shelters, dog parks, parking lots and restrooms. The Baseball/Softball/Soccer Fields at Meadow Park and Sugarloaf will open April. Big Bear Alpine Zoo is open daily from 10am to 4pm. The Big Bear Valley Senior Center is located at 42651 Big Bear Blvd., between Stanfield Cutoff and Division, and is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The Center offers a multitude of programs, activities and services for seniors 50 and above.

Senior Citizens Of Big Bear Valley (SCOBBV) general membership meetings are held the second Monday of each month at 1:00 PM. The Senior Citizens of Big Bear Valley advises the Park District on the needs of the Valley’s Senior Citizens. Annual membership dues are $10.00 per person and entitles the member to many enjoyable activities. There are cooking classes, BINGO, Bridge and Poker games, lunches and Saturday Socials, Ceramics for Seniors, Painting, Tole Painting, Quilting, and even newly released DVD movie matinees. The Top of the Hill Gang is the SCOBBV travel club with trips including Laughlin, Branson, San Manuel, the Queen Mary, and many, many more.

Senior Luncheons: This is a chance for those 60 and up to get together with other seniors for a delicious luncheon with friendly people. The meals are nutritionally balanced, catered by Alpine County Coffee Shop, and the only fee is a suggested donation cost of $3.00. No one will be turned away due to failure to contribute. “Funding for this service has been provided by the San Bernardino County Department of Aging and Adult Services through a grant award from the California Department of Aging”. Hooks and Needles
This is a quilting-bee style get-together where people bring their own project in. This is a friendly group who welcomes the new members. Projects include quilting, crocheting, and knitting. Group members share patterns, help, and advice while chatting about a variety of topics.
Fee: No fees associated with this program, bring your own supplies.
