Jevita Webster, a member of he Customer Service team, successfully earned her drone pilot license this month, and immediately put it to use for DPW. Throughout the month of April, Jevita has been working with Special Districts Water and Sanitation (WAS) on their water tank inspections. These inspections generally required a WAS maintenance worker to put on safety equipment and climb all over the water tanks to note any deficiencies. Using drone technology, an inspection can be done safely and quickly from the ground. Further, the footage can be later reviewed by staff at the office to check issues with the inspection report or to take stills to plan for repairs. In the first month, the combined IT/WAS team has completed inspections on 15 sites. The Special Districts division is hoping to expand the program to include other hazardous inspections such as towers within the Division’s television districts.
